Since the 1940’s Hollywood has been fighting against new technologies and media distribution, repeatedly claiming “it’s all over” and that their industry will be put out of business. Meanwhile, they enforce tighter restrictions on the media you purchase and revenues have continued to increase every year.
Websites going dark tomorrow. Despite huge opposition from Internet users and many prominent websites, former Senator Chris Dodd, Chairman and CEO of the Motion Picture Association of America, Inc. (MPAA) issued a statement that really shows how stupidly twisted and ignorant he and his masters are, in regard to how the Internet works and demonstrates what the lobbyists for the SOPA and PIPA bills really think of the world around them.
In part, he says - “It’s a dangerous and troubling development when the platforms that serve as gateways to information intentionally skew the facts to incite their users in order to further their corporate interests.”
That statement is just mind-bogglingly false and amazing to hear, when it’s coming from an organization that is lobbying hard, skewing facts and paying politicians to further its own corporate interests. A good example of Psychological projection.
Wikipedia is shutting its English language pages down tomorrow - The Wikimedia Foundation is a non-profit organization, and this decision to shut down was made by over 1800 members. There are no evil corporate interests at play, this is simply protecting the Internet and the freedom of information and communication that it provides to so many people.
Many other websites (Google, Wordpress, Mozilla, TwitPic and others) have been encouraged by their users to show their support publicly to raise further awareness - Because TV and other media outlets have been largely silent on the whole issue.
So, now you’re aware, realize that if you can’t get onto a website tomorrow, it’s for a damn good reason, and we all should step up our awareness of what is going on in the world, otherwise the rights and privileges we take for granted will be pulled away from under out feet, because we couldn’t be bothered enough to do something about it, or just presumed they’d always be there.
Laws can be pushed through quickly, often before anyone really notices, but it can take centuries to reverse them and fix the damage they have done in the meantime.
Really, what is this junkpiece of an article doing on VF?

Had an interview/meeting today, glad I wasn’t asked any of these bizarre questions. e.g. ‘How would you get an elephant into a refrigerator?’ - Think I would probably just stroll out and say ‘Well, I’m not working for any company that hasn’t figured that out yet’.
